In this review I’m sharing a few thoughts about them, including demonstrations of hand lettering and modern calligraphy. You can see the live color swatch tests in the video as well.
I’m loving these new Marvy Uchida LePen Flex Brush Pens! The body of the pen is very attractive and pretty but I did want to point out that they look similar to another pen that they sell so be careful when purchasing.
To be honest, when writing with these pens I had a lot of expectation because their other products are just so different to what’s on the market. I think I expected these to feel very different to other pens, but they are just like any other fude sized brush tip pen.
They are soft but because the tip is not very long it doesn’t give that same bouncy feel – although they do hold their safe and do bounce back!
I absolutely love the colors they come in and how easy they are to control because of the small brush tip, which makes them a great place to start for beginners.
They also blend pretty well when you use two colors together. I think that with any small brush pen it’s always challenging for the tip to retain the color so you tend to have to switch from the dark pen to the light quickly. The color-pick-up method demonstrated in the video is the method I prefer to use for blending colors when working with the smaller brush tip pens.
